DURATION: 1-4 Hours Cave Thawr – Located on the north-western ridge of Jabal Thawr (Mount Thawr), about 12 km southwards of Makkah. Cave Thawr is an extremely small crevice hardly big enough for two men. It is significant because the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) and his companion Abu Bakr (ra) took refuge in this cave as they migrated from Makkah to Madina. It is said that they were hiding below the cave when they heard footsteps of the enemy above them. This is when the Prophet reassured his companion of Allah’s protection.
